Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Fighters Group

Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a diverse cast of characters, and a exciting storyline including divine entities, fiends, and dark forces expanding in influence within the city.

Warning: Key plot points for the latest installment of Campaign 4 are included.

The Soldiers Table Unveiled

Episode 3 concluded with a dramatic pause and introduced the first table of characters who will separate from the main group to undertake their independent quest, apart from the remaining groups.

This warrior group consists of the determined fighter (played by Travis Willingham), the agile character (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).

The Reason for Division

Considering an extensive roster, it was obvious from the beginning that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unworkable.

This explains, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, connecting the characters’ stories before dividing into three separate parties: Soldiers, Schemers, and Explorers.

What Defines the Soldiers Table

Per the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for participants who enjoy a typically action-packed battle-oriented narrative style where peaceful solutions are scarce.

Initially, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might look unsuited, but the events of episode 3 demonstrate why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.

Motivations for Departure

For one thing, the group understands precisely where to go next after a intense initial meeting with the antagonists.

A former ally of the deceased character—whose demise initiated the narrative’s action—used the foes for his own means, entering Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the character, and stealing all the magical artifacts to dispose of.

The traitor then settled his debts and escaped to a fortified location in the remote area, north of the urban center, with Teor’s brother close behind.

Character Drivers

Moreover, each character has a personal reason to depart Dol-Makjar:

  • The agile hero, as the close ally and best friend, wants retribution.
  • The knowledgeable figure has experience in Timmony and advises that it is a nasty environment.
  • The strong character and The cleric, having resisted his house’s orders to kill the target and instead rescued him, have no other options.
  • However, their position as key figures in the influential clan could help the group reach areas they usually can’t.
  • Moreover, Teor pledged a eternal obligation to The savior for his rescue and will now go with him everywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

Finally, all of them are wanted by the powers that control the setting for a range of causes, making staying in the city dangerous:

  • The rogue and Kattigan are known criminals.
  • The strong figure and Wicander betrayed the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
  • Teor is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.

This results in them few options but to head to the northern region in pursuit of the traitor.

Future Episodes

From the latest episode’s post-show segment, we discover that the combat party will be absent next week, leaving the remaining eight cast members to assemble the Questers and Planners tables.

Fans can anticipate learning which players will be where in the story’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on next week.
